GLOBAL HIGH PTO MEETING MINUTES – 2013 –OCTOBER 1

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:06pm

Old business

  • September minutes were reviewed.  Motion to accept minutes for both meetings was made, seconded and approved.

  • Financial report was reviewed.  Motion was then made to approve the financial report, seconded and approved.

 

  • Mr. Snook

 

  • Thanked the PTO for its assistance with the Sock Hop.  Entry fee for the dance was donation of canned goods for Waxahachie food bank.  550 cans were collected.

  • Said he felt like the open house event went very well.

  • Juniors have ordered their rings.  Any new orders will need to be made at www.jostens.com.

  • Thanked the PTO for all the help at Quest Fest.

  • Went over upcoming events calendar

    • 10/4 Early release at 11:30am

    • 10/14 Staff Development day and School Board meeting that evening.

    • 10/16 PSAT.  Free for sophomores, $15 for freshman and juniors.

    • 10/17 Senior Citizens Day – Tour of the district for senior citizens that is set to begin at WGH.

    • 10/18 Jostens senior cap, gown and invitation presentation 11:10 – 11:40am

    • 10/25 Jostens cap, gown and invitation order (also at www.jostens.com)

We discussed the upcoming golf tournament.  Players and sponsors still needed.  Also there is still a need for some raffle prizes.  If anyone has, or knows someone who has, something they would like to donate for the tournament, please remember that all donations are tax deductible.  For info or questions please email golf@globalpto.org.

Parent reps are still needed for the 10th and 11th grade classes.  If interested in representing either of these classes please email info@globalpto.org. 

Discussion of the Waxahachie Project Graduation cards was tabled.  Stacy will research the cost of printing our own project graduation cards.

New Business

Costco rep was unable to attend.  Brett will follow-up with him for attendance at another meeting.

Family Dinner Night at Chick-Fil-A on Thursday 10/3 from 6p – 10p. Another one is scheduled at Carinos on 11/10.  For this one, flier must be presented.  More contacts for future dinner nights have been made, but no confirmation has been made yet.

Events have been created on the Parents of Global High Facebook page.

Tinsel and Treats is being coordinated by Terra Irving.  The event is set for Saturday, 12/7, 3p – 8p.

            Freshman – Bake Sale

            Sophomore – Gift wrap or arts & crafts

            Junior – Trees (silent auction)

            Seniors – Santa Claus photos.

Tyler Dulworth spoke about future student council events

            10/18 Movie Night $2 presale, $3 at the door.  6pm to 10pm

            Winter Formal needs adult volunteers

No other new business was mentioned.

Motion was made to close the meeting.  Motion was seconded and carried and meeting was adjourned at 8:13pm.
