Global PTO Fundraising




Meeting was called to order at 6:55pm

Old business

  • June and August minutes were reviewed.  Motion to accept minutes for both meetings was made, seconded and approved.

  • Financial report was reviewed.  2013 Event Fund was overdrawn by $596.14.  After some discussion motion was made to zero out that account with money from General Fund.  Motion was seconded and approved. Motion was then made to approve the financial report with changes, seconded and approved.


  • Mr. Snook


  • Thanked the “hardest working PTO group in the district”.

  • Introduced teachers, student council members and administrators present.

  • Spoke about the use of a new layer of communication for the school/classes -  Remind101.  Students and parents are able to send a text message to sign up for an announcement service for schoolwide announcements, grade level announcements and classroom/teacher specific communications.

  • Thanked the PTO for all the help at Quest Fest.

  • Introduced the Global Academic Letter Jackets.  These are available to any WGH student for $50.  Patches for clubs and/or organizations will be an extra cost and may include require  a certain tenure or other achievements to earn.

  • Went over upcoming events calendar

    • 9/13 Jostens senior ring presentation 11:10 – 11:40am

    • 9/17 Open House 6:30- 8pm

    • 9/18 College & Career Fair @ Civic Center 6pm (juniors & seniors)

    • 9/20 Jostens ring order (before school)

    • 10/18 Jostens senior cap, gown and invitation presentation 11:10 – 11:40am

  • Announced that on November 22, Mrs. Brewster will be retiring.  Although saddened by her leaving, we all wish her the best.

  • Spoke about the attendance policy for the WISD Perfect Attendance Car Giveaway.  Tickets for this prize drawing will be awarded based on 2nd and 6th period attendance.


  • Mr. Lynch

    • Spoke about keeping track of volunteer hours and the new Volunteer PIE forms.  The PIE forms must be filled out in order to work with/around students. 

    • Asked that we all be sure to log those volunteer hours we spend doing any work for PTO or the school.  This includes  time spent going to the store to purchase items to be sent to school for events.

  • We discussed the upcoming golf tournament fundraiser for class scholarships on 10/19.  Players and sponsors still needed.  Also there is still a need for some raffle prizes.  If anyone has, or knows someone who has, something they would like to donate for the tournament, please remember that all donations are tax deductible.  For info or questions please email

Parent reps are still needed for the 10th and 11th grade classes.  If interested in representing either of these classes please email 

A motion was made for the PTO to purchase Project Graduation cards from WHS to raise money to fund WGH project graduation for the 2014 senior class.  The motion to purchase 1000 cards at up to $400 was seconded and carried.

Spirit store update:  Once the current inventory in the spirit store is liquidated all spirit items will come from an online company.  There may be a need to sell limited edition items through the downstairs store, but most items will come from the online presence.

Big Thrift will now give a check to WGH PTO for items donated and sold by anyone wishing to get rid of old or no-longer-used items.

Glenna Reisner has expressed interest in coordinating family dinner nights.

Student council requested some volunteer assistance with their dance on 9/20. 

No other new business was mentioned.

Motion was made to close the meeting.  Motion was seconded and carried and meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.
